A stunning example of Ignaz Mettal's work, signed and dated 1928. The guitar shows a strong Spanish school influence and sports a 650 mm scale lenght, although (in a style typical to many other Mettal guitars) it has ladder bracing and a Viennese-style neck bolt.
The back is made from a combination of laminated rosewood and spruce, whereas the top and sides are both made from solid wood. The "mountain peak" headstock of the guitar is very specific design-wise and appears in virtually the same (non-carved) form on guitars made for the Cremona company by Franz, Anton and Walther Mettal several decades later (the verge of 1940s and 50s until the 1960s in case of Franz Mettal's instruments).
